AltiView Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Effective: September 8, 2026
AltiView (the "Service") is developed and operated by Fengwei Software ("we", "us"). We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use, store and protect it, and the rights you have.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service you confirm that you have read and agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Location: with your permission we access your location — including in the background when you grant "Always" — to show altitude, record tracks and log footprints. Location data is used only for these features.
- Motion and sensor data: with your permission we read barometer, step count and speed data to compute altitude, elevation change and activity state.
- Content you enter: track names, notes and photos you attach to footprints or recorded points are stored in the local database on your device.
- Weather data: when weather is displayed, we request conditions for your location from Apple Weather (WeatherKit); the request is handled by Apple.
- Device and diagnostic data: device model, system version and app version may be collected to keep the Service stable and secure.
- Subscription data: your subscription and purchase status is provided and verified by Apple (StoreKit) to determine your entitlements.
- Advertising data: the free version shows ads, and the ad provider may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data.
2. How we use information
We use your information only for these purposes:
- Providing core features: altitude display, track recording, footprints, elevation profiles and 3D tracks;
- Showing weather, converting units and displaying the app in your language;
- Verifying subscriptions, handling purchases and restoring purchases;
- Displaying ads (only for users who have not upgraded to Pro);
- Troubleshooting, improving the product and keeping it secure.
3. Storage and sharing
- On-device first: your altitude samples, tracks, footprints and photos are stored in a local database on your device. We do not operate servers that store this data.
- iCloud backup: only when you use the backup feature is data written to your own private iCloud container, provided and encrypted by Apple. We cannot access it.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- To deliver the features above, data may be processed by: Apple (location and maps, iCloud backup, WeatherKit, App Store subscriptions and purchases) and Google AdMob (ads, free version only). We share only what is necessary for them to perform their role.
- We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others.
4. Managing permissions
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → AltiView:
- Location: Never, While Using the App, or Always. Turning it off disables altitude, track recording and footprints.
- Motion & Fitness: turning it off disables barometric altitude and step data.
- Photos / Camera: turning it off prevents adding photos to your records.
5. Retention and deletion
- Local data is managed by you: delete individual tracks or footprints, or clear everything, inside the app.
- iCloud backups are created and deleted by you. Deleting the app does not automatically remove an iCloud backup — delete it in the app or disable iCloud first.
- Uninstalling the app removes local data on your device (but not your iCloud backup).
6. Your rights
- Access and export: view your data in the app and export it as GPX or CSV.
- Deletion: delete any data; contact us if you need help removing an iCloud backup.
- Withdraw consent: revoke location, motion or photo permissions in system settings.
- Limit personalised ads: restrict ad tracking in system settings, or upgrade to Pro to remove ads.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a guardian and believe a minor has used the Service without consent, please contact us and we will act promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date, and material changes will also be announced in the app.
